Supercharger Type: Roots

Powered from the engine the Roots blower draws air through the intake using spinning rotors that are designed with meshing lobes. The air is trapped in the lobes and forced outwards where it reaches the outlet to the engine. This additional air and oxygen provides the engine with the ability to burn more fuel and increased combustion. The Roots blower is a positive displacement (meaning it’s the same amount of air on each cycle) pump but is not considered a compressor like other superchargers. The Roots blower is the granddaddy of superchargers with the oldest design and longest history.
